The Jazz Reporters were formed in 2007 by Jules Jackson, a graduate of the famous Guildhall School of Music & Drama jazz course. Most of the musicians in the band have come through the Guildhall between 1997 and 2007, and are all now busy on the London jazz scene.
Collectively and individually they have a wealth of experience, having worked in recent years with an enormous list of British and international jazz stars, including Jamie Cullum, Sir John Dankworth & Dame Cleo Laine, Gwyneth Herbert, Laurie Holloway, The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, The Laurence Cottle Big Band, The James Taylor Quartet, The Puppini Sisters, The National Youth Jazz Orchestra and many more.
The core of the band is the trio of piano, bass and drums, together with one or more of our fantastic vocalists. There is also the optional addition of saxophone and / or guitar, and the singers + instrumentalists that work with us most regularly are as follows:
Sophie Smith - vocals
Liz Swain - vocals
Steve Trowell - vocals
Russell Thomas - vocals
Iain Mackenzie
- vocals
George Moore - piano / keyboard
Jules Jackson - bass or drums
Pat Levett - drums
Jon Shenoy - saxophone
Raph Mizraki - bass
Al Cherry - guitar
